City of Stoke Open 2012

It was a very challenging weekend; physically and mentally demanding on the body during an open meet with long intervals between races in hot and humid conditions on poolside. However, swimmers swam with positive attitudes giving it there best with many of the swimmers just missing out on current times/personal bests - especially under the circumstances with many saying it was a "slow" pool however, they managed to record some respectable times.

Ben was swimming on both days bringing back three gold and two silver medals from a total of 8 races in his age group. Kyle was swimming three races on the Sunday and secured top ten finishes in all his races he entered for in his age group. Also, Rob was swimming on the Sunday too in four races and gained top ten positions too.

A successfull and challenging weekend! Very well done!!

Sports Relief - Go The Extra Mile...

Ilkeston Swimming Club Swimmer Shannen Sidoli has been to great lengths to raise funds for Sport Relief. The squad swimmer made it her mission to complete a 20 mile cycle on her bike and a 2 mile run. Shannen's determination saw her successfully achieve her targets in both the running and exceeding the 20 mile limit in her cycling doing a total distance of over 24 miles!

Well done Shannen!!
